Hongdae

Hongdae is a neighborhood in Seoul near Hongik University Station. It is famous for being an area populated by young people as it is close to numerous universities like Yonsei, Hongik, and Ehwa. It is very popular as a location for buying cheap/decently priced clothing and an area known for the nightlife. I came here often because it was in walking distance from my area so below are some places and activities I did in Hongdae during my stay

HongDAY

Hongdae itself is a great tourist attraction for locals and foreigners. The main street has numerous attractions and shopping opportunities for clothes, flowers, souvenirs, jewelry, and more. I went there during my first day in Korea and did not even cover half of it despite walking around the whole day. There are also many places you can have lunch or sit down like cafes. The main street is not its only attraction as you can walk down other smaller ones to find hole in the wall businesses or specific places.

Hongdae at Night

Hongdae during the night is entirely different. There are more food stalls open selling late night snacks and desserts, it's more crowded with people finishing school/work, and all the night lights are glimmering. Hongdae offers many mediums of entertainment including restaurants, arcades, activity cafes, and more. You can also get a show because there are many performers busking ranging from magic shows to K-pop dance performances. There are also many photo booth and karaoke places to visit  which are both staples of having fun in South Korea.
